Sunday Times Bestselling Author Mark Forsyth

The Sunday Times Number One Bestselling Etymologicon springs from Mark Forsyth’s Inky Fool blog on the strange connections between words. It’s an occasionally ribald, frequently witty and unerringly erudite guided tour of the secret labyrinth that lurks beneath the English language, taking in monks and monkeys, film buffs and buffaloes, and explaining precisely what the Rolling Stones have to do with gardening. Join this acclaimed writer on June 26th for a circular stroll through the hidden connections of the words we use every day. Mark’s latest book, The Horologicon, was BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week. Your ticket price includes a signed paperback copy of The Etymologicon, with copies of The Horologicon also available to buy for signing on the night. Why is there something rather than nothing?

In his latest book, The Universe From Nothing, internationally known theoretical physicist and bestselling author Lawrence Krauss offers provocative, revelatory answers to the most basic philosophical questions: Where did our universe come from? It will provoke, challenge, and delight readers to look at the most basic underpinnings of existence in a whole new way.As Richard Dawkins has described it: This could potentially be the most important scientific book with implications for atheism since Darwin.
Professor Krauss will be giving an evening Lecture followed by a book signing on Thursday 4th October at 7.30pm. The event is being held at The David Russell Theatre within The Portsmouth Grammar School. Tickets: Adults £5
